Getting Started

Please Note: due to the current pandemic we will not be hosting the GHS Mandatory Startup Meeting in May, please use the contact form to find out additional information.

We’re glad you are considering joining Grace Home Schoolers (GHS), also known as “Grace.”  Please read this page before filling out the membership and registration forms.  Grace is a support group, not an umbrella school.  We do not keep any records, nor do we assign credits or grades.  Additionally, we ask you to remember that we are composed completely of volunteers.

Grace Home Schoolers is overseen by a group of parents, called the Grace Home School Board. This board is responsible for overseeing all events and programs within GHS, including Creative Learning Days (CLD) offers classes for grades K-5 and Friday Enrichment (FE) offers classes for grades 6-12.   Joining GHS covers costs for most activities throughout the year, except for field trips, yearbook, and a few other optional activities.  You must first join GHS to participate in co-op classes in CLD and FE.

Both new and returning members who wish to join GHS for a given school year need to attend the GHS Mandatory Start-Up Meeting held in May (please use the contact form for specifics) and complete GHS Membership Form found on the Enrollment Forms page. The GHS Start-Up Meeting allows you to hear more about our co-op and the programs we offer. This enables you to participate in all GHS activities (i.e. Fine Arts Night, Fairs, promotion nights and Graduation, picnics, etc.).  Not all activities are offered every year, as we provide those activities that we have volunteers willing to organize the activity.  Parent-led field trips may have additional costs. There are also additional costs for those who wish to participate in co-op classes offered by Creative Learning Days (CLD) and Friday Enrichment (FE) (see below).

All families who join GHS must read and agree to abide by the documents provided and include student behavior, dress code, and standards of conduct. These documents are found on our website and included with the membership and registration packet.

**Please download and read the Grace Home Schoolers Handbook**

Emails are also sent throughout the year with information pertaining to our group. This is our main form of communication.

Your obligation to the group is to serve at one (or more if you so choose!) of these GHS activities (Get Acquainted Picnic, Science Fair, Student Portrait Picture Day, Social Studies Fair, Testing, Fine Arts Night, K-5 Promotions, 6-11 Promotions, Graduation Ceremony/Reception, End of the Year Picnic, including planning, set-up, clean-up, and working during the event, as needed).

Annual membership fees are as follows:

  • Returning members $45 per family, paid on or before May 31st
  • New Members, $65, paid on or before May 31st
  • Late registration, $80 per family, if paid after June 1st
  • Insurance $48 per family
  • Facility $50 per family to participate in classes
  • If you have a graduating senior an additional $125, paid on or before May 31st

Grace Home Schoolers has an open enrollment year-round. We have a Startup meeting in May for membership registration for Grace Home Schoolers and co-op classes. Once we have processed your membership your student(s) will be eligible to participate in co-op classes. Please note we do increase membership fees after May 31st.

Co-op Classes

Creative Learning Days (CLD), offers classes for students in grades K-5, which is overseen by a group of parents called the Creative Learning Days Committee.

Classes meet weekly on Fridays, except the last Friday of each month, holidays, Christmas break, spring break, and Good Friday. In November they host a Thanksgiving Feast that each family of CLD provides food and entertainment, and in February they exchange valentines. Once a month we have a pizza day. This is an additional cost.  To participate in CLD, complete the CLD Registration Form found on the Enrollment Forms page.

There is a separate cost to participate in CLD classes in addition to your Grace membership.

Your obligation to participate in classes offered by CLD:

    • Serve up to two hours each co-op class day for the duration of the school year.

Returning members have the option to teach a one-hour class each co-op class day OR serve up to (2) two hours as a teacher’s
helper, lunch monitor, cleaner, nursery worker, etc. each co-op class day for the duration of the school year.
New members must serve up to (2) two hours as a teacher’s helper, lunch monitor, cleaner, nursery worker, etc., each co-op class
day for the duration of the school year.

  • One adult member from each family will be required to stay for the full class day at least two times throughout the school year to
    cover absentees.

We want to accommodate all families, and if you have special concerns or needs, please speak to a member of the CLD Committee.

July 15th is the deadline to enroll in CLD classes.

Friday Enrichment  (FE), offers classes for students in grades 6-12 which is overseen by a group of parents called the Friday Enrichment Committee. To participate in Friday Enrichment Classes, complete FE Registration.

Classes meet weekly on Fridays, except the last Friday of each month, holidays, Christmas break, spring break, and Good Friday.   There are additional costs to participate in Friday Enrichment Classes.  Please remember that while we use the term “class” we are not a school, but rather provide enrichment for the education being directed by the parent. Once a month we have a pizza day. This is an additional cost.

Your obligation to participate in classes offered by FE:

    • Serve up to two hours each co-op class day for the duration of the school year.

Returning members have the option to teach a one-hour class each co-op class day OR serve up to (2) two hours as a teacher’s
helper, lunch monitor, cleaner, nursery worker, etc. each co-op class day for the duration of the school year.

New members must serve up to (2) two hours as a teacher’s helper, lunch monitor, cleaner, nursery worker, etc., each co-op class
day for the duration of the school year.

We try to accommodate as many as we can for class registration however some classes have a limited number of students.
Priority enrollment is given to students of leaders, teachers, then members according to their length of membership.

June 30th is the deadline to enroll in FE classes.

If you have students taking classes in the CLD and FE programs, you are required to meet the volunteer criteria for BOTH programs.

Any member that fails to serve their event or misses more than 6 co-op class days MAY be asked to not return the following year.

Please use our Contact Form if you need to contact anyone in leadership, including membership.
